Millions of farmers in the Teesta River Basin of northern Bangladesh struggle due to severe water shortages. Together with CASEED and APSU, IFPRI-Bangladesh conducted a government-commissioned study to develop an integrated agricultural strategy for the region. The study found that groundwater irrigation dominates the region, while the barrage provides only 2% due to the severe water shortage. In light of IFPRI’s research findings, the government is now developing policies and programs to support regional development.
