Background: Feed the Future in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one of 12 countries where the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) plans to implement the US Government’s Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) initiative. In Bangladesh, the GFSS will primarily focus on promoting inclusive and sustainable agriculture-led economic growth, strengthening resilience among people and systems, and improving nutrition, especially among women and children.
Event Information
USAID and IFPRI will join hands to launch the Feed the Future Country Plan in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event will include the following:
- Inaugural session of distinguished speakers
- Thematic video highlighting the GFSS key objectives, specially produced for the event
- Knowledge fair, where private sector entities, USAID implementing partners, and the Ministry of Agriculture will showcase knowledge, innovations, and products related to food security and agricultural development
- An awards ceremony for six winners of a youth essay contest, “Healthy Food, Bright Future,” who shared their thoughts about what healthy foods are, how to access healthy foods, and how healthy foods can ensure a bright future. For more information on the winners, please visit this link.
