Achieving the goals of climate smart agriculture requires careful consideration of other cross-cutting issues that influence climate change outcomes, especially gender and nutrition.
On May 7, IFPRI and CIMMYT researchers presented findings from the USAID-funded Gender, Climate, and Nutrition Integration Initiative (GCAN) on assessing gender, climate, and nutrition outcomes for strengthened resilience programming at USAID; the links between women's empowerment, climate change, and production diversity; and implications of rural mechanization on women in Bangladesh. Approximately 100 people attended the event at Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka.
