Building capacity of influential policymakers for improved food storage management decisions
The Integrated Food Policy Research Program (IFPRP) implemented by IFPRI, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) and University of Illinois organized a 5-day training for select mid-level government officials of Ministry of Food and Directorate of Food. The training workshop entitled “Concepts and Tools for Food Policy Analysis” was inaugurated by Ms. Shameema Sultana, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Food.
The training workshop was designed to increase analytical capacity of select trainees, thereby enabling them to make efficient and effective food policy and food storage management decisions. The workshop provided hands on training to the trainees to conduct price analysis, understand market dynamics and government’s procurement procedures.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Md. Badrul Hasan, Director General, Directorate of Food handed over certificates to the trainees recognizing their participation at the 5-day training workshop. Among others, Director General of BIDS, Dr. K.A.S Murshid, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Food, Ms. Salma Momtaz, Senior Research Fellow of IPFRI, Dr. Shahidur Rashid and Assistant Professor of University of Illinois, Dr. Juan Andrade were present at the closing ceremony.
