The second round of IFPRI-PRSSP's Bangladesh Integrated Household Survey (BIHS)—the country’s most comprehensive, nationally representative household survey—was conducted in 2015. (The first round took place in 2011/12.) The data show changes in poverty, nutrition, women’s empowerment, technology adoption, and more.
Some key findings:
- poverty declined by 16 percent, and the poverty gap narrowed by 25 percent;
- the prevalence of hunger is down by 26 percent;
- more children under 2 are eating acceptable diets; and
- women’s empowerment increased remarkably.
