IFPRI, in collaboration with USAID, convened the roundtable “Building on Progress: Partnering to Further Reduce Poverty, Hunger, and Malnutrition in Bangladesh.” The discussion focused on making nutrition-driven policies and programs, scaling up past successes, identifying gaps in knowledge and data, and understanding the role of women and girls.
IFPRI Director General Dr. Shenggen Fan presented on “Global Food Security: Current Status and Trends.” Bangladesh Country Representative Dr. Akhter Ahmed presented new results from IFPRI’s national panel surveys in Bangladesh and some key recommendations.
In attendance were some 20 participants from UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, and FAO), embassies (the Netherlands, Japan, Denmark), and other NGOs such as the EU and the World Bank.
